Who We Are
Bluegrass Center for Autism (BCA) is a non-profit (501c3) organization which provides individualized 1:1 ratio programming for children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the Louisville, Kentucky area. BCA’s unparalleled approach to therapy focuses on developing the learning tools and skills that children and young adults need by the time they reach adulthood. BCA was established August of 2010 and has rapidly grown since that time. The demand for our unique curriculum has lead to the opening of two campuses. The Kosair Charities East Campus houses our children ages 3-11, and our older children and young adults ages 12-21, are developing life skills at our Mid City location.
Who We Serve
The Centers for Disease Control now estimate that 1 in 68 children born today will be diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Autism affects a child’s ability to perceive and interact with his or her world. Unlike other neurological disorders, autism affects each child in a unique way. Most children with autism have difficulty communicating and many are highly sensitive to sensory stimulation. Families of children with autism see the potential embodied in their child, however with treatment resources scarce, they are often left with little or no options to see this potential become reality. As children with Autism Spectrum Disorder grow into adulthood, their unmet needs will negatively impact our community if they do not receive proper treatment and therapy. BCA is taking bold steps to address these pressing needs for children and families affected by autism.
